Idly, Idli, Rava Idli - smooth andhra style Idlies

INGREDIANTS:

  • Black gram(Urad dal/Minapa pappu) : ½ kg
  • Salt: 3 to 4 tsp
  • Idly ravva: 1/4 kg
  • Grated carrots
  • Chashew nuts
  • Ghee
  • Black pepper
  • Preparation:

    Take black gram(Urad dal/minapa pappu) in to a bowl of water and leave it aside for 2 hours.

    Now Add a tsp of salt to that dal and grind it thouroughly. All you get is fine grinded paste.

    Now, Add idli rava in another bowl with water. After 10 min, take the rava (leaving water aside) and mix it with the dal in the other bowl.

    Leave the batter for a half an hr.

    Heat a pan, add a 2 tsp of ghee and golden roast the chashew nuts.
    Add the roasted chashew nuts and black pepper to the rava idlli batter.

    Take an idli cooker and pour some water into it.
    Spread some ghee on the idlli moulds. Place the grated carrots on the moulds and few non roasted chashew nuts too.

    Now pour the batter into the idlli moulds.
    And Steam the idllis.

    Hi! this looks like a nice recipe. I was looking for rava idli recipe made with idli rava, it looks good, shall try it out today. But, I have a question, approximately how many idli’s would this quantity make?
